Montura

Montura

Collection

Inspired by the generic lines of Argentine horse saddles, this collection is an homage to the gauchos who work and ride through the pampas and across the steppes of Patagonia, exposed to the full gamut of climatic and weather conditions during the four seasons of the year. They are a living tribute to the stark beauty of these lands.

Our leather goods

We are very fortunate to have been accompanied by a superbly skilled team from the outset, craftsmen and artisans who have shown incredible commitment to this project, experts in plying ancestral trades in native natural materials, and connoisseurs of quality traditional cloth, for innovative applications.

Working on leather goods in Erika's workshop has been a true privilege, as part of a process of design, trial and error that took a full year. From the initial idea to making the finished product, everything has been the result of teamwork. The fusion of experience and knowhow has been key to the product turning out in the way we had imagined.

We began with the concept of using flat strips with a special webbing that we knew from the beginning that we wanted to be the protagonist of this design. Then we realized that we needed a handle for a safer experience and wanted to give this a special softness with a hand-sewn finish.

Although we were clear that the seat had to be reminiscent of a Patagonian saddle, where the lining follows the lines of the seat itself, it took some time to come up with a convincing design.

Finally we took the decision to change the leather to match the curve of the wood without making too pliable, so that its shape would be clear.

WOODS

Our carpenters are known for their exemplary attention to detail and a deep understanding of the properties of lenga wood, characterized by a special grain that woodworkers must know how to appreciate and work with.

The polishes provide both luster and protection, highlighting the natural light and darker tones of the wood, a chromatic complement to the seat and leather swing straps.

HARDWARE

The hardware was produced by Julio Yunell's workshop, whose company is one of the few that makes hardware for custom leather goods in Argentina.

His experience was essential to finishing the brass details and ensuring that everything worked and fit together seamlessly.

STRAPS

Last but not least, we are using high-tensile polyester straps, which have been fully tested for weight bearing for up to 330 lbs. (150 Kgs).

They finish off the set of supports for the swing, ensuring a slim, clean-cut and pleasing look-and-feel, for an extra touch of class.
